Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: A message popped up when I was renting a scooter for the first time, saying that a $30.00 hold would be placed on my credit card. Does this mean that I have to load $30.00 onto my Spin account before I can rent a scooter?

A: No. The credit hold is simply verifying that you have enough available credit for a long rental period. Nothing is charged until you end your ride and the exact amount owed is calculated. You will only be charged for the time that you have used.

-

Q: If I ride a scooter from campus to downtown, and later decide to catch a ride back to campus with friends, can I leave the scooter downtown?

A: Yes. All scooters are equipped with GPS transponders. Spin will pick up the scooter and bring it back to campus.

-

Q: If I park a scooter and go to class, but do not end my ride within the app so that I know the scooter will be there for me when I'm finished, will I be charged for the entire time my ride was active?

A: Yes. Keeping your ride active is a way to reserve a scooter so that no one else can use it, but you must pay for that time. Most campus locations will have additional scooters nearby should someone rent the scooter you just finished using.

-

Q: How do I report a damaged scooter or other issue?

A: You can submit a report directly to Spin within the mobile app. Just look for the icon of an exclamation point in the lower left corner of the screen.
